I purchased this CD as an upgrade from the cassette I've owned since 1990. Tracks 2-1 and 2-2 taken from the Buffalo Stance UK cd single (YRCDT21).
Shame about the one bit of bad language, but otherwise fabulous. Check out "Love Ghetto", one of her best tracks on this CD The first time I had heard of her was her smash hit "Buffalo Stance" which is pretty much the headline here on this CD.
Rap music to me is usually something re-fried more than even the most commonplace heavy metal boredom.Throw in a few catchy lines about your misunderstanding parents and all the other authorities and youve got a hit!..for maybe 3 months.This gal is different.Her R&B groove hits the core of everyday oddities and lover setbacks with a great rhythm and catchy,craftful lyrics.She relates more with women,but overall this album relates to any member of the broken-hearted and urban dweller.Her fast paced vocals are beyond the typical stuff you get these days.Her energy is well used with her heartfelt emotional ups and downs.Its all about surviving in the concrete jungle in every way possible with all the unexpected punches-theres even one song about lovemaking positions!The music may not have the total delivery of "Abbey Road",but its sure catchy and likeable and above usual rap standard.I wish Nenah could bop back again.She could teach current platitudes and future stars how it oughta be done.
